Introduction:

Project Coordinators establish and maintain a Project Management Office (PMO). They provide a service that enable project teams to function and deliver projects more effectively. The PMO is key to effective implementation of project management across an organization.

Day 2 – Strategic and governance services

  • Effective governance for the PMO
  • Identifying, selecting and prioritising new projects
  • Providing advice and recommendations to senior management
  • Conducting project health checks and post-project reviews
  • Project management maturity

Day 3 – Consultancy and advisory services

  • The project manager’s hard and soft skill’s
  • Developing accepted project management competencies, including training and mentoring for project managers
  • Evaluating project managers’ performance
  • Recruiting, selecting and allocating project managers
  • Recording, analysing and disseminating lessons learned

Day 4 – Advanced specialist services

  • Providing estimating, scheduling and risk management expertise to PMs
  • Coordinating plans between projects and monitoring resource use
  • Monitoring and reviewing project performance Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Implementing and operating a project information system and/or scorecard
  • Quality monitoring and enforcement of standards

Day 5 – Producing a plan

  • The PMO charter
  • Establishing PMO policies, processes and procedures
  • Company-approved processes and tools
  • Developing a preliminary PMO implementation plan
  • Encouraging Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
